  1. Good vice for the money Review by Matthew Thomas
    Quality

Just got done installing this vice and it seems very nice. The first thing I did was take the whole vice apart and grease the threads, the bar slide, and the pivot/mounting plate. One thing I have to say is that the base is not a 180° swivel. It is a full 360° and spins VERY smooth. Almost feels like ball bearings. I also read some reviews saying that the base only had 1 pivot lock, but mine came with 2. So I'm not sure why some people only have 1, and I have 2. But either way, for $70, it's a nice vice, and I feel comfortable being able to beat on it (Posted on 8/14/2015)

  2. Excellent value Review by P. Rawlins
    Quality

People seem to hate cheap Chinese-made vises. Personally I'm very happy with this. It's mounted to my workbench and I've used it to clamp wood for my router and circular saw and to cut 1/2 inch steel conduit with a hacksaw. It did both excellently, like having a third hand. It has two handles for 360 adjustment so clamps tightly in any direction, which is another useful feature. Would I like to own an American made vise? Sure I would. Am I willing to drop the best part of a thousand dollars on something I use infrequently? No chance (Posted on 5/23/2015)

  3. Nice, very heavy duty for most homeowners Review by Andrew J Calder
    Quality

This is heavier-duty than I expected. It will definitely handle more than I'm ever gonna throw at it. I used 7/16" through-bolts to mount it on my bench, and it feels solid. (Posted on 4/28/2015)

  5. Excellent product for the price! Review by Joseph "J. R. Stokes"
    Quality

I recently used this vise to change a couple muzzle devices on AR-15's and it worked flawlessly. It has been mounted with 4 large bolts onto a heavy desk and it's a great tool to have around. The flat surface is a great functionality to have as well. I would recommend getting a pair of plastic, aluminum/aluminium and brass jaws if you're working on guns. That way you will not mar the finish on them or otherwise damage the look of the firearm by placing parts in the normal jaws. You can get these jaws for a fair price on Amazon. Here is what I have been using:

The width the jaws open on this vise is more than enough for most jobs. It's sturdy, came well oiled and the swivel is fairly smooth on it so I highly recommend Yost's products and this one in particular. (Posted on 12/17/2014)

  6. Seems sturdy enough for the price Review by Mr. Goodwrench
    Quality

Seems sturdy enough for the price. I would consider it a light duty vice and not dream of abusing it as I had my 6" that was at least 50 years old and weighed about 100 lbs. Too bad I had to leave it at one of my last homes in FL. (Posted on 12/3/2014)

  7. Nice vise Review by Devan Ramalingam
    Quality

This vise is awesome.. I only use it on small around-the-house projects and it's never failed me. Once I anchored it to my work bench (with the aid of some washers as the holes are somewhat large) I use it all the time. (Posted on 11/20/2014)

  8. Nice Vice! Review by Joe D. Mcdowell "Col Joe"

A nice vice. Have used it for about a month and it works very well for what I need. Glad to support my old state of Michigan business.

  10. Dad was happy., Review by 4chairs

Bought this for my father for Christmas. He said it was exactly what he needed. The size offers a good in between option. Not to big; big enough for most jobs. (Posted on 11/6/2014)

  17. Super Vise, Review by J. Hannah "reader/author"
    Quality

This was a replacement for a broken 3 inch vise. This thing is very sturdy and well put together. The weight is heavy, and Sturdy I attached it to my work table. Drilled the 4 holes attached the good quality hardware and have been using this excellent tool for a while.

  18. I feel like I got what I paid for Review by B. Burdette "Big Enos"
    Quality

This vise is completely competent at what I want it to do which is clamping small to medium sized objects and sawing, hammering, grinding, or some combination of those things. My first task for it was to hold a Ford Track-lok differential while I hammer out the center spring and remove the clutch packs (rebuilding it). The vise didn't budge when I hammered the spring out.

The fit and finish is good, but not perfect. The castings are nice, but the threaded shaft doesn't look all that great. The older vises I've had were a lot nicer from that perspective. It does seem to be sturdy and should hold up to what I'm going to use it for. I'll reiterate what others have said, and that's a recommendation to apply grease to the moving parts, seems to really help the action smooth out. I also put some in the swivel base and that seems to work better now, too. I thought the bolt layout included with the instructions should have been to scale so it could be used as a template. Seems silly that it is not.

I say, buy it. I'm not sure anything at this price point will be significantly better, and could be a whole lot worse.

  19. Seems good to a novice Review by Mitchell
    Quality

I picked this up for my dad for fathers day. Neither of us are really what you would call craftsmen, but having only used our 25$ special in the past, this feels like a huge step up. Everything is over built with broad tolerances and the leavers are large enough to use without putting lengths of pipe on for leverage. It seems like its going to be as sturdy as whatever you mount it to. (Posted on 12/2/2013)

  20. Blue, just my color Review by jed weller
    Quality

Vise is tight and swivels easily; pounded on it a couple of times with a two pound sledge and it's still in one piece...I like it (Posted on 12/2/2013)
